If you're not a teacher or student, what do you do for a living?
Retired; 40+ yrs teaching theater arts to children K-12 (even some pre-school); costumer, actor, director, repertory classical theatre; writer; life-long student. As to "for a living," not much.
What interests do you have that others might wish to contact you about?
If you could have a front row ticket to any sporting event, concert, theater, or event, what would you choose?
Front rows are not the best. Too much closeup of performer's feet. What I haven't seen and won't get to see that I would have relished is the opening and closing ceremonies of an Olympics.
What well-known living persons would you like to meet during Happy Hour?
A caution here, meeting idols is often dissapointing.I believe I would have enjoyed Eric Severid and Walter Cronkite. Today, Anderson Cooper. I think I might like Hillary Clinton in person. And maybe Neil Armstrong and Ursula LeGuin and just recently Jean Craighead George. Also Valerie Plame Wilson.

In 1982 I lived in Orange, CA, and started an amateur theater group:
The Players of Orange -- we did theater in the round. I was an amateur actor in community theater in the round in Westbury, NY for seven years. Played many leading male roles. It helped me get out of my "shell" and relate more to people.
As a thank-you I financed the Players of Orange which took off and was a success for a number of years. We started in the public library at Orange, CA, and moved on to various people's rec centers at theit condos, and at the park's rec centers.
I trained a number of directors and producers before I left for Knoxville, TN in 1992. A real basic experience for a shy, somewhat socially backward, introvert.
Are you still active in U of C Press? I am looking for a savvy agent who can promote my book, "Tyrant" and get me decent publisher.
Any interest, or are you retired from the game?
Hi Loel,
I was part of Robert Hutchins experiment at Chicago, with young students out of the tenth grade of high school. I took the entrance exam and got straight into the sophomore year from 10th grade.
Almost every person I knew, or friend I had, suffered some form of neurosis as a result of the social and emotional dislocation. I think Hutchins forgot that people are more than their IQ.
Korzybski was a leavening influence in keeping me on track and far less 'disturbed' than most of the "Hutchins' babies".
I eventually got my PhD in Math at NYU, and in my later years (including now) I have taken to writing novels. I have several manuscripts in development and am publishing my first offering (Historic Fiction genre).

I have left a Forum question about Cognitive Education and Communication for K-12. Your comments would be most valuable.

Welcome aboard.
We're practically neighbors.
Isn't Pacific Grove in S. CA somewhere?
(See, I'm not ashamed to display my vast ignorance)
